David Louis Obituary

David Gerard Louis passed away very unexpectedly of advanced pancreatic cancer on January 24th, 2023 at Albany Medical Center.

David was raised in Cheektowaga, NY, eldest son of the late Paul and June (Marvin) Louis, and traveled around the country living and working in Arizona, Kansas, and Minnesota, among others, before returning to Buffalo and finally settling in the Capital Region. Over the years he worked for Big Brothers & Sisters, Potpourri Club, and OMRDD, to name a few. He was a talented actor and appeared on many stages across the Capital Region, including Capital Repertory Theater, Circle Theatre Players, Ghent Playhouse, Glove Theater, Schenectady Light Opera Company, Schenectady Civic Theater, and Curtain Call Theater, as well as in several films.

In 2001, David began practicing animal communication professionally, and the discovery of his ability to communicate with animals brought him great joy. He was able to keep working till just 10 days before he died. He published his book, Listen with Your Heart: Stories and Reflections from an Animal Communicator in October 2022.

David is survived by his wife of 27 years, Amy L. Kerr, and his step-children, Sarah Kerr-Mace (Zachariah Gonzales-Belinki) and Ian Kerr-Mace. He is also survived by his brothers Brian (Sandy) Louis, Alan Louis (Timothy Cox); his sister Susan (William) Sykela; his nieces Alison (Zack) Searer and Misha Ericsson (Ryan McCarthy); his nephews Roddy Ericsson and Justin (Samantha) Ericsson; and his great-nephew Vincent. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeannine.
