Claverack - Reginald L. Conklin, Jr. 79. of Claverack, NY died at Albany Medical Center on March 31, 2021. Surrounded by his loving daughters, Tracy Hawver, Pamela Miller & Kelly Del Principe and predeceased by his wife Karen Del Principe-Conklin.
Born on August 19, 1941, in his parents home on the old Relyea Farm on Fish and Game Rd. in Hudson, NY. He was the son of Reginald L. Conklin Sr. and Eunice Clapper of Spencertown. Reginald and his late brother Gordon Lasher Conklin were lovingly raised by his aunt and uncle, Laura and Floyd Schneider along with their daughter Juanita (whom they considered their sister) on Pheasant Lane Farm in North Hillsdale.
After leaving school early in the 12th grade, he enlisted in the US Navy in 1959 with an honorable discharge in 1962. Along with getting his high school diploma he also went to Cornell University for officer training, Rensselaer & Schoharie County for the Sheriff's Dept. and the State University Agricultural & Training College in Delhi, NY.
Reggie went on to do may things in life. Work included driving a truck for 13 years in New York State and surrounding areas. Investigator of Animal Cruelty, Complaints & Manager of the Columbia Greene Humane Society from 1983-87. Retiring from 16 yrs. of service at the FASNY Firemen's Home as Director of Maintenance.
After retirement he went on to build his Excavation and Agricultural Company, RC Grounds Maintenance, while maintaining his status as Dog Control Officer for the Town of Claverack.
He was a past president and volunteer firefighter of Churchtown Firehouse, Commissioner of AB Shaw Fire Dept. and a member of the Federation of the Polish Sportsman Club and a Trustee of the Stottville Rod & Gun Club.
Reggie is survived by Juanita May Knott and her family, his three daughters, six grandchildren,Zennon, Kassy, Devin, Haleigh, Ryan and Deegan. Along with many great grandchildren, loving friends and neighbors.
There will be no calling hours. Funeral services wil be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Columbia Green Humane Society.
