MINERVA - Tom Duffy of Minerva, formerly Albany, passed away on February 2, 2023, at 71 years old.
The son of the late Andrew and Loretta (Mallon) Duffy, Tom was born and raised in Yonkers. He graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School in 1969 and enrolled at Ricker College in Houlton, Maine before finishing his studies at SUNY Albany.
Tom spent several years backpacking through the United States and Canada, working briefly on the railroad in Western N.Y. before settling in Albany as a self-employed financial planner and insurance agent. Tom loved playing basketball, weekend mornings at Bruegger's bagels, any Volkswagen he ever owned, and canoeing on Minerva Lake.
He was predeceased by his parents, and two sisters, Anna Marie McTighe and Agnes McPheeters. He is survived by his daughter, Bridget Ward, and her husband Matthew of Darien, Conn.; as well as three grandchildren; sister, Alice McCormick of Rochester; brother Joseph Duffy (Connie) of Boston, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial mass with burial to follow is planned for Saturday, June 17 at 11 a.m. at Saint Marys Church and Cemetery in Irishtown, (Olmstedville) NY.
